Review & Activities 12

12. My inspirational quote which is a in my daily ctually more of a passage from the bible that I like to remember in my daily life is 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."

Personal Journal 4.2

Problem: I have job difficulties. I want a good full-time job, but I need to finish school first which means low paying jobs, not full-time work, and issues with fellow workers and bosses because of maturity levels and so on.

When I avoid: Irritable, Impatient, and Dissatisfied

When I cope: Accomplished, Satisfied, and Rational

An action I could take today to cope with my issue is to try and find a good paying job that relates to the field I am going to be going into after college.

Personal Journal 6.2 & 6.4

Activity 6.2

          Impulse: Road Rage
               1. When I give into this impulse it relieves emotions like anger and stress.
               2. The negative consequences of this however could lead to me getting into an altercation with someone or getting into an accident.
               3. The positive consequences do not outweigh the negative because I need to learn to control my emotions and be aware of the danger of road rage.

Activity 6.4

          Action:
Option 1:Stay at my second job
Option 2: Leave my second job all together

Goal: Staying would keep me in touch with people and keep my discount
Goal: Leaving would allow me to make more money and find a better job

Value: I value my relationships with my coworkers.
                 Value: I value stability.

           Action:
Option 1: Go ahead and finish school as fast as I can
Option 2: Slow down so I can work more

Goal: This would contradict me graduating in summer 2013
Goal:I may not have time for other things like I do now such as school

Value: Finishing school would not contradict any of my values
Value: Slowing down would contradict my value of persistence

Third Term Paper Blog Entry: Your Imago

The techniques in the book are working very well for me because at first applying something new is hard to pursue smoothly and become a habit, but soon the action becomes natural because it is a better way of conducting our relationship. As far as changes I have made are trying to become a more patient and understanding partner. I have been listening more and talking less while also putting my words into actions. For example, when me and my boyfriend get into a disagreement my usual response is to disregard everything being said therefore the issue does not get resolved and repeats itself in the future. However, recently in a disagreement I will give eye contact and listen to his wants and needs and in return apply an action to show I did listen and I do care which solves the issue from ever reoccurring. Also, we do not have any children yet, but we have two dogs that we consider our kids and at times we disagree on how to punish and reward them. However, now if there is a disagreement on the right action we will sit down and discuss our opinions and find a happy medium which resolves the issue with the dogs without making a second issue of us arguing. My progress has been better than expected.I would say our only set back has been not having a lot of time to practice new methods, but I can tell what we have tried together has worked and stuck with us. I would like to say that the experience so far has been easy, however when it comes to molding a relationship and changing how a person thinks and reacts is difficult and takes time and practice.

Second Term Paper Blog Entry: Childhood Wounds

I think the ideas presented in the book I chose are very relevant to everyone and all of life's issues. The success I expect to attain is a better self as well as becoming a better relationship partner. Some of the changes that will be necessary is for some of the issues that me and my partner have dealt with are communication and trust to be resolved to attain a more fulfilling relationship. Thus far the steps I have taken are to try daily to have more open and honest conversation. So far I have experienced any difficulties, but if some were to arise I suspect it would the honesty to lead to an argument. If this happens I plan to handle it by staying calm and trying to talk it out to defuse the situation.
